237: Question Boxes: An Engaging Tool to Enhance Programming and Fill Evaluation Gaps
Wednesday, November 12, 2025
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM CST
This poster demonstrates the use of anonymous question boxes to enhance programming, while addressing evaluation gaps. In our example, Indigenous youth submit questions on sexual health education topics such as puberty, relationships, STIs, and pregnancy, which health educators then answer in a group-setting in subsequent sessions. This technique encourages open dialogue in a stigma-free space, builds trust, and improves learning. It works especially well with Indigenous youth, who may be hesitant to ask sensitive questions openly but respond well when facilitators elaborate on answers and share deeper stories. Beyond that, the question boxes provide valuable evaluation data by identifying curriculum gaps and areas where further resource referrals are needed. Practical facilitation tips will be shared. Combining traditional and modern perspectives, this approach promotes culturally inclusive sexual health education, improves knowledge retention, and empowers youth through safe, honest conversations that support holistic well-being.
