Michael Scriven was an influential philosopher and prolific author, credited with numerous contributions to the field of evaluation throughout his extensive career. Using primary and secondary source data, this poster reviews Michael Scriven’s publication history to better understand the scope by subdividing his documented works into major domains. The purpose of this work is to further develop the history of evaluation as an independent discipline, expanding on key efforts such as the American Evaluation Association’s Oral History of Evaluation series. While other authors have provided brief overviews of concepts or defined certain eras, few have conducted bibliometric analysis of specific evaluation scholars. This work also serves to reinforce Scriven’s transdisciplinary view of evaluation, with his own curriculum vitae providing a primary example. The ultimate goal of this poster is to prompt further examinations of the discipline’s foundational scholars and documentation of evaluation’s history.
