Evaluating Translational Team Science is a complex endeavor critical for understanding how interdisciplinary collaborations contribute to advancing health innovations and translating scientific discoveries into real-world applications. This paper provides an overview of the current status, trends, challenges, frameworks, and methods of team science evaluation in translational science organizations that include but are not limited to Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs). A product of collaboration of CTSA internal evaluators and team science practitioners, the overview is based on an environmental scan of evaluating team science in the field of translational science — including a review of diverse secondary data sources, a survey, and practitioner observations. The presentation is expected to be of interest to diverse audiences including internal and external evaluators, evaluation capacity building practitioners, program stakeholders, and other audiences interested in evaluation.
