121: Beyond PowerBI & Tableau: Are RShiny and Google Looker the right tools for the job when you want data-driven tools for collaborative evaluation?

This presentation explores the strengths and limitations of RShiny and Google Looker Studio as tools for collaborative evaluation, and when they are appropriate alternatives to PowerBI and Tableau. RShiny offers deep customization and real-time interactivity, empowering evaluators and stakeholders to co-create insights. Google Looker Studio, with its own flexibility and ease of use, allows communities to explore and visualize data in meaningful ways without significant coding or skill training. These platforms align with the conference theme as they enable shared leadership in data interpretation and decision-making. We will highlight how RShiny and Looker Studio foster collaboration, transparency, and ownership using real-world examples of our evaluation projects and selected examples from the web highlighting more advanced co-creation capabilities. Attendees will gain insights into how these tools can be used in their own evaluations involving community members in data interpretation activities in a meaningful way.
