143: Community Engagement Studios: Shaping Research, Practice, and Translation Through Community Input
Wednesday, November 12, 2025
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM CST
The Community Engagement Studios model was developed by the Meharry-Vanderbilt Community Engaged Research Core to facilitate culturally appropriate and respectful conversations between a panel of community experts (e.g., people representing the population that a researcher aims to address or other stakeholders) and a research team involved in planning, implementing, and/or disseminating information about a current or planned study. Advance RI-CTR has adapted this approach to enhance collaborative engagement between community members and researchers ensuring the exchange of meaningful information resonates with all stakeholders, thereby exemplifying the conference theme, Engaging Community, Sharing Leadership. This poster will describe the structure of the Advance RI-CTR Studios, outline the steps for conducting these sessions, and present preliminary quantitative and qualitative results from an evaluation conducted with participating investigators and community experts. The conclusions will offer insights and practical recommendations, including common pitfalls to avoid, as researchers look to implement these studios in their communities.
