Kindergarten Readiness for All: A Community Dialogue Through Data Gallery Walk.
Thursday, November 13, 2025
4:35 PM - 4:40 PM CST
Improving kindergarten readiness and closing gaps in early childhood outcomes is a key focus of the Children’s Services Council (CSC). Despite efforts to fund and support school readiness programs, professional development for early childhood educators, and childcare quality enhancement, disparities in kindergarten readiness outcomes have persisted. To address this challenge, CSC adopted a Data Gallery Walk approach—an innovative, interactive method for sharing data-driven insights and fostering community engagement. This session will showcase how the Data Gallery Walk facilitated meaningful discussions among stakeholders, strengthened community ownership of the issue, and generated actionable recommendations to reduce racial and ethnic disparities in kindergarten readiness. Attendees will gain practical strategies for leveraging data visualization, stakeholder participation, and inclusive dialogue to promote equity-driven decision-making in early childhood education. By making data accessible, engaging, and actionable, CSC was able to catalyze meaningful conversations, foster community leadership, and drive collaborative solutions to reduce kindergarten readiness disparities.
