This presentation explores an innovative approach to teaching evaluation using artificial intelligence (AI) in an online, asynchronous university course. As AI becomes an integral tool in professional settings, educators must prepare students to engage with it critically and ethically. We present a structured learning activity where students develop evaluation plans from different paradigms, generate AI responses from the same perspectives, and compare their work to AI-generated content and course materials. Through this iterative process, students refine their understanding of evaluation theory while assessing AI’s strengths and limitations as a learning tool. Findings from a study on student reflections highlight AI’s role in enhancing conceptual understanding, fostering critical thinking, and supporting diverse learners. This presentation offers practical insights into integrating AI into evaluation pedagogy, demonstrating how it can serve as a peer-like tool to deepen engagement and promote inclusive learning.
