39: No-niche independent evaluator? No problem! – The benefits of a nicheless independent consulting practice

At the beginning of the Independent Consulting journey, we often hear: "Find your niche." Only sparse voices say, "No, you don't need a niche". I am part of this group of people. Not having a niche is not a problem – not at the beginning, not five years into your consulting practice, or ever - as I see it. And it can't be an obstacle to becoming an independent consultant. Also, niches – especially related to a knowledge field – may not be for everybody. A common option is developing excellent evaluation skills applicable to several knowledge fields and becoming a "generalized specialist." And, of course, partnering with subject-matter experts whenever needed. This session is not an "abolish the niche" type of gathering!
