Friday, November 14, 2025
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM CST
Translating research into actionable programs and resources is central to Extension systems. Extension evaluators play a pivotal role in helping extension educators demonstrate the outcomes and impacts of their translational work. Viewing the combined efforts of extension evaluators and educators as cooperative learning opportunities can enhance their interactions and lead to better overall results and deeper engagement. Research identifies five variables that mediate effective cooperation: positive interdependence, individual accountability, promotive interaction, appropriate use of small group social skills, and group processing. These tenets foster responsibility, trust, and effective teamwork. This session will discuss how extension evaluators can use cooperative learning as a structured method to help extension educators enhance their understanding of evaluation and employ evaluative thinking in their programming. Participants will gain actionable insights to utilize cooperative learning, ultimately strengthening the impact and sustainability of extension initiatives across various settings.
