56: What does it take to honor best practices and lived experiences when gathering gender identity information in this moment in time?

Data+Soul Research invites you to join a deep dive discussion on gathering and analyzing data on gender identity. We will create a space for participants to consider how they might adopt equity-centered approaches and honor lived experiences in demographics data collection. Our questions include:
(1) How do we reconcile best practices for equity-centered demographics data collection with current political climates?
(2) How do we balance our values and the safety of others?
(3) How and when might we adapt the phrasing of gender identity questions or structure the responses to better reflect the experiences of our communities? What are the tradeoffs?

Our hope is that in having this discussion, attendees can build off each other’s experience and expertise, walking away at the end with a few ideas for how to navigate the changing evaluation landscape, so we can continue to do the work without compromising our ways of being.
