16: Creative ways to teach evaluation to those who do not want to be evaluators

This Birds of a Feather session will focus on creatively teaching evaluation methods, logic models, needs assessments, and fundamental techniques to those who don’t aspire to be evaluators but require a basic understanding for their jobs. The author will share their experiences engaging Master of Social Work students in a clinical program using Legos, Miro boards, and hands-on exercises to illustrate core evaluation concepts. Student feedback has been positive, and the activities have been well received. The author hopes this positivity translates into greater interest in evaluation and a reduced aversion to evaluators once students enter the field. Attendees will be encouraged to share their teaching methods and depart with at least one new and delightful way to introduce an evaluation method they were unaware of.
