Pigments + Power: Using Color Theory as a Strategy for Community-Led Storytelling is a skill-building workshop that introduces color theory as an innovative qualitative methodology for capturing complex social constructs in evaluation. Participants will develop personalized, color-based meaning mapping frameworks to explore emotions, concepts, and lived experiences. This participatory approach empowers communities to shape evaluation processes, moving beyond traditional methods. Grounded in empowerment evaluation and culturally responsive practices, this session offers a creative tool to capture the complexity of human experience. Drawing on the work of Black artists like Sam Gilliam and Romare Bearden, participants will explore how color conveys powerful social narratives. By the end, they will have developed frameworks that foster inclusive, transformative, and community-centered evaluation practices. Click to fill survey.
