Transforming climate action through evidence and learning: a multi-perspective invitation to action

How can we amplify the relevance and impact of evaluation in climate action? Evaluation practitioners have unique and critical contributions to make in helping reverse climate change and its impacts on people and planet. To maximize our impact, we must transform how we approach our evaluative work to be more responsive to the urgent, dynamic and complex nature of the challenge we’re up against. There is growing consensus among major global players on the ways in which evaluative practice must evolve - synthesized in a joint statement (an “Invitation to Action”) created by representatives from 20 global philanthropies, multilateral organizations, international organizations, bilateral donors, and climate funds, launched by The Rockefeller Foundation and partners in early 2025. The panel will explore what – concretely – it will take to live into these new ways of working, bringing a diversity of perspectives across organization types, starting points, and contexts.
