Perspectives on Practicing Culturally Responsive Evaluation with Latina/o/e Communities
Friday, November 14, 2025
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM CST
This multi-paper session provides an overview of the main themes discussed throughout the New Directions for Evaluation (NDE) issue “Perspectives on Practicing Culturally Responsive Evaluation with Latina/o/x Communities.” The issue underscores the importance of investing in Latina/o/e evaluators who are trained in culturally responsive and equitable evaluation (CREE), with a Latina/o/e lens or LatCREE. The contributing authors offer LatCREE frameworks and approaches that center the voices of Latina/o/e communities to advance humanizing their assets and counter harmful status quo programs and services that are not aligned with the needs of communities and deplete resources. Furthermore, the session will offer a deeper understanding of the value of actionable discourse and the importance of validating the perspectives and experiences of evaluators working with Latina/o/e communities. Attendees will engage in discussion about the role and responsibility of evaluators to disrupt harmful practices through the application of LatCrit and LatCREE theory, methods, and practices.
