The crossroads of Evaluation created waves of challenges that require a larger response than that of any affinity group. We cannot fully grasp the implications of the resulting chilling effect and proactive risk responses which threaten to stop evaluation’s march of progress towards beneficence and respect of all persons. Yet, a review of Patton’s Redux of Stake’s exercise provides a salient reminder: The values which guide today’s evaluators are not novel, nor were we ever alone in this work. Stake’s exercise is a tool to catalyze grassroots movement.
In this gathering led by emerging evaluators, we will revisit Stake’s value-orienting exercise and facilitate a discussion beyond Patton’s Redux to strategize practical solutions and reframing of our important work. We invite you to join us in collaboratively solving obstacles that make it seem difficult or impossible to stay true to our values within the challenges of our present day. Click to fill survey.
