Breaking Barriers: Transforming the RFP and Contracting Processes

The request for proposals process (RFP) can unintentionally reinforce structural barriers if not designed to expand access and opportunity. A group of funders in Houston have come together to draft and test shared RFP standards. This think tank session will engage funders and independent evaluators in a facilitated discussion on fostering a more accessible request for proposals (RFP) and contracting process.

We will share RFP guidelines developed through this collaboration, discuss evaluator perspectives on navigating the process, and explore strategies for improving evaluation hiring and contracting practices. Through interactive dialogue participants will examine barriers, opportunities, and innovations that support broader engagement in evaluation. This session moves beyond presentation to co-create knowledge and share leadership, encouraging participants to reflect on their own practices and develop actionable steps toward more inclusive processes. Join us to examine norms, expand perspectives, and shape the future of evaluation.
