A Data Storytelling Learning Collaborative: Creating an Environment for Peer Learning, Capacity Building, and Increasing Data Literacy Among Colorado Community-Based Organizations

Individuals most affected by health disparities are best positioned to drive solutions, yet often lack access to meaningful data or the skills to craft compelling data stories. The Colorado Equity Compass (CEC) is leading a Data Storytelling Learning Collaborative (LC) to empower community-based organizations to increase data literacy; build capacity to develop compelling data stories; and apply these stories in an advocacy focused project. This session will explore how a responsive evaluation approach was utilized to identify and address organizational and community needs, enhance engagement, and build confidence among participants to translate learnings into action. We will discuss our facilitation and evaluation methods and how community feedback informed iterative improvements. Presenters will highlight the work of the LC participants and insights into what LC components were most useful to advancing advocacy work.
