Sharing Responsibility for Culturally Responsive Evaluation: Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI) in a Community-Serving Nonprofit Organization
Thursday, November 13, 2025
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM CST
This panel will invite conversation among participants in AEA’s Graduate Education Diversity Internship (GEDI) program that will reveal how the program is contributing to building diverse, equitable, and inclusive evaluation practice and preparing evaluators in an education nonprofit setting to follow culturally responsive approaches. Details will be discussed about the daily process in which GEDI develops and how Culturally Responsive Evaluation (CRE) is supported by Board members, program staff, evaluators, and scholars. Questions will be addressed about the mutual benefits of the host organization and scholar relationship (e.g., How is GEDI helping to build the next generation of evaluators?) about the context in which applied learning develops (e.g., How does LAEP’s work with and commitment to GEDI strengthen the organization’s DEIB work?), and about the way in which scholar and organization are navigating the current political climate (e.g., How does equity-focused evaluation support sensemaking in confusing times?).
