Community Needs Assessments Made Doable: Centering Voices, Driving Impact

Community needs assessments are essential for program planning and implementation, but limited funding, staffing, and/or capacity often create challenges for gathering this critical information. This session featured a needs assessment used by agencies focused on sexual violence prevention in their communities and draws on insights from the “Communities Mobilizing for Safety” project, funded by the New York State Department of Health. It will provide programs with adaptable tools, including surveys, interview guides, and listening session templates, to support efforts in tackling the root causes of sexual violence by centering community voices to ensure strategies are informed by and led by the community. Participants will see examples of these tools in action and explore approaches that build program capacity. CAI is eager to share community needs assessment tools and strategies that will support participants in using data to inform programs and advance equity in their communities.
