The goal of this session is to reflect on the experiences and data to explore the contributions student case competitions like AEA’s annual Student Evaluation Case Competition (SECC) can make in evaluator education. The AEA SECC working group will introduce the SECC, recognize the case organization and winning teams, and then discuss:
What benefits have student teams, coaches, judges, and working group members experienced from participating in the SECC? What lessons does our experience with the SECC present for educating emerging evaluators in other contexts, inside and outside of the classroom? How can we develop effective cases and assessment rubrics for evaluator education? What future directions should SECC, and evaluator education more broadly, take?
About the SECC: Teams of 3-5 university-based students, with the support of one or two coaches, develop an evaluation plan for a real-world case organization. Learn more here: https://www.eval.org/Education-Programs/Student-Evaluation-Case-Competition Click to fill survey.
