148: Data Visualization and Communication in Evaluation: A Bibliometric Analysis
Wednesday, November 12, 2025
5:30 PM - 7:00 PM CST
This study examines trends, patterns, and gaps in the use of data visualization for evaluation communication through a bibliometric analysis of 430 peer-reviewed articles (2010–2025) from Scopus and Web of Science. Findings reveal a significant increase in publications post-2020, with Evaluation and Program Planning emerging as the highest-impact journal. Key themes include the dominance of interactive dashboards and geographic mapping in evaluation reporting, though adoption varies by sector (e.g., healthcare favors longitudinal charts). The analysis identifies underutilized tools (e.g., network graphs) and highlights gaps in practitioner-focused guidance. By mapping collaboration networks and citation trends, this study offers actionable insights for evaluators to align visualization strategies with audience needs and AEA’s 2025 theme of shared leadership. The poster will feature visualizations of publication trends, visualization methods, keywords co-occurrence, and a framework for selecting tools based on evaluation context. Attendees will gain evidence-based recommendations to enhance community engagement through effective data communication.
