TIG: Research, Technology, and Development Evaluation
We invite you on a journey detailing how the Novo Nordisk Foundation integrated an MEL-approach within its long-term funding approach for research infrastructures ranging from instrumentation to full-scale facilities funded through an open competition program as well as larger, stand-alone grants. Initially, there was little attention to reporting or consideration for evaluation needs. Through structured reporting and strengthened community engagement, we effectively learned and adjusted our programs. This significantly improved our dialogue with grantees. Our experience serves as a testament to the importance of finding the right angle or stepwise approach in pursuing a broader MEL agenda. We demonstrate how we utilize our impact framework process to design initiatives collaboratively with prospective grantees, and how we monitor and evaluate infrastructure grants to ensure ongoing funding and support. Join us as we share insights on how we enhanced MEL-practices, thereby fostering a more effective and responsive funding environment for research infrastructure.
