Aaron W. Kates, PhD, MSW

Lead Consultant

Aaron Kates, lead consultant for Effect X, LLC, holds a PhD in Evaluation from Western Michigan University. Building on a Master of Social Work and a Bachelor of Geography degrees, Aaron's doctoral studies focused on the application of evaluation theory and methods to real-world problems.

Aaron's work experience includes clinical psychotherapy, wilderness management and natural resources, refugee resettlement, and child welfare. He has eleven years' experience in program evaluation serving clients such as the WK Kellogg Foundation, Calvin University, the State of Michigan Department of Energy, and countless community-based organizations.

Aaron's passion lies in designing accessible and useful evaluation products that empower those whose work seeks to make a difference. His broad content knowledge and methodological diversity enable him to apply unique evaluation solutions to unique programs and clients.
