Evaluation Specialist

Diana is an Evaluation Specialist with the Center for Evaluation and Assessment at the University of Iowa where she aims to engage in culturally responsive evaluation practices and storytelling through data. She is a PhD candidate in the Educational Policy and Leadership Studies department at the University of Iowa. Her research interests include in critical and collaborative participatory evaluation and research methods, the intersections between the carceral state and education, critical policy analysis, adult basic education policy and practice, and prison education policy and practice. Previous to her PhD work, she worked several years at an adult education literacy nonprofit in downtown Atlanta. There she taught nearly all subjects and levels, managed the adult basic education programming, including program evaluation, and worked as a grant manager for their Title II WIOA federal funds. She received her MS.Ed in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education from Indiana University and her Bachelors in Journalism from University of Iowa. She shares her home with an amazing partner, Jeff, a precocious 5-year-old, Rowan, an elderly cat, Sebastian, and a rambunctious young rescue lab mix, Astro.
