Effectiveness of Bystander Intervention Training Tailored to STEM Disciplines: Immediate and Lasting Results from ADVANCEGeo Partnership

The ADVANCEGeo Partnership has been delivering bystander intervention training tailored to Geoscientists and other STEM disciplines since 2017. Reports from the National Academies of Science and Engineering recommend best practices for development, implementation, and evaluation of bystander intervention training programs. This presentation aligns best practices from the literature with actual implementation strategies and short and long-term outcomes from over 80 workshops delivered to STEM academic departments, professional conferences, field sites, and lab groups. Disaggregating the data by gender shows women and non-binary participants found the content to be more relevant, however all genders equally achieved learning outcomes.
